Things to do in Mossley Hill

Rose Lane is a pretty part of Mossley Hill, with cafes, restaurants and shops dotted along its length. Linking Aigburth Road and Allerton Road, it's a popular destination and thoroughfare. There is a large Tesco store on this road, as well as other local convenience stores along the way.

If you're after a spot of culture, head to Sudley House - a 19th century house and art gallery, which is now part of the National Museums of Liverpool. The stunning property houses lots of artwork and often runs activities for schools and groups, as well as being available for venue hire.

Things to do in Greenbank Park

One of the most popular parks in Liverpool, Greenbank Park is a tranquil bit of green space in Mossley Hill. With a lake (perfect for fishing with a permit) and The Watering Can - a fantastic little cafe and bistro at the entrance - it's the perfect place to stroll around with a takeaway coffee.

The Spire Hospital is also situated opposite the park.

Things to do in Penny Lane

Made famous by The Beatles, Penny Lane has long attracted tourists on their pilgrimage across the city, and it's located right here in the Mossley Hill area of Liverpool. Did you know that John Lennon and Paul McCartney used to meet here to catch the bus into the city centre? Although the Fab Four are no longer here, Penny Lane is a lovely place to visit.

With a barbers still standing in the spot referenced in the song, and some lovely little boutiques and places to grab a quick bite to eat, it's a great place to head to on a lazy weekend.

Dovedale Towers is a popular pub with outdoor seating that's often bustling in the summer months, and Penny Lane Wine Bar is another great spot to visit. From here, you can also walk up to the beautiful Sefton Park where you can visit the Palm House and the Boathouse Kiosk.

How to get to Mossley Hill

There are two train stations servicing the area - West Allerton and Mossley Hill. The area is also near Liverpool South Parkway Station, so you can be quickly connected to lines across the UK. Aigburth stations, including Cressington and Aigburth, are also within walking distance from the southern areas of Mossley Hill.

There are accessible bus routes running through the area including 80, 86 and 75, and lots of hubs for City Bike Liverpool if you fancy seeing the area on two wheels.

How far away is it from Liverpool’s main hotspots?

Depending on where you are within Mossley Hill, the city centre is around 20 minutes away by car.

The bustling hub of Allerton Road is just at the top of Penny Lane so the area of Allerton is not far away at all, and with Aigburth in the other direction you're perfectly situated between Sefton Park and Calderstones Park too.
